The newest set of samples I’m working on are of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I’ve never drawn them before and only recently read the graphic novels so the first step was to start sketching the characters to get a feel for them.
Adam Hughes has a couple of illustrations of the League and he has his own distinct interpretation on what the characters could have looked like. I considered drawing the characters either entirely my own way too, or basing some of them off of his as if he were the original artist instead of Kevin O’Neill. But in the end the way I saw the characters was really how I built them up based on Mr. O’Neill’s designs.
